“Work” is the opposite of “rest”
“Work” means to do something to get it done. For example, “The teacher gave her students some work to do; e.g. three worksheets to summarize by Friday of next week.”
“Rest” implies to stop doing something or to take a break. For example, “Amy asked me to rest from work for a few minutes.”
